More than 10 years ago I started as a freelance web designer. I’ve worked at Driebit (Amsterdam) and later at IPPZ (Utrecht). The more I worked on creating software for the internet, the more I’ve been drawn towards the back-end of applications.

This means that I know HTML, CSS and JavaScript very well, but that I feel more like a PHP developer. I like to work with Symfony2, Doctrine ORM, MongoDB, and happy to use tools like Git, Composer, Capistrano, Vagrant and Puppet.

To give you an idea of the things that have kept me busy the last couple of years: Symfony2, quality assurance, web application security, webservices, TDD, reusable code.

Quality assurance

When it comes to developing software, I value maintainability and reliability. Therefore I love to write code after writing a test so I can be certain that I’ve made something work. To cite one of my heroes:

The only way to go fast is to go well.
— Robert Martin

This means that the software I deliver works, is self-explaining, tested and extensible.
